Call:0900-SUICIDE was my first work with a parasuicidal subject. People are asked to recall their own position towards suicide. My opinion didn't proport to be the only solution, instead I invited the audience to polarize themselves by being guided with two opposing solutions.
My goal was to question the strength of official, conventional statements by the World Health Organization and compare it side by side with my own views. Quotes, statements and suggestions about prevention of suicide from official medical sources were projected on the walls, circulating around the centre. A coffin was placed in the middle of the large, dark, gallery space.
A video recording of drowning body was projected on the water surface. Every 2.13 minutes the sound of a deep breath could be heard, corresponding to the longest time I resisted under the water examining Spinoza's statement that 'suicide is not possible'.
